As few film reviews as well as a new segment was introduced. Things were looking up.October turned into a whirlwind of activity for me. We took a cruise down to the The Caribbean and visited the islands. It was a magical time, except for the insanely severe sunburn that I suffered because I'm a first class idiot. Here's a little PSA for ya: When you're getting down towards the equator, the sun is MUCH more intense. 45 minutes without a shirt was all it took. I was cooked.
Not only was my skin just about purple, but I actually burn the ever loving shit out of my nipples. Have you ever burnt a nipple? I'm here to tell you that it is not a pleasant thing. I ended up spending a couple days in the cabin covered in towels soaked in cold water with a USB powered fan blowing on me.
I'll tell you what though, once I healed up, I had the most amazing tan!
We got back in November and wouldn't you know the Holidays came fast and furious.
Before I knew it, it was Christmas. Then New Years!
Then, BAM! COVID hits and the entire world is thrown into turmoil.
Fan-fucking-tastic.
While many people were laid off, furloughed and working from home, I was not among them.
Working in EMS, my job suddenly became a zillion times harder and far more intense.
Night after night I ventured out into the plague infested wasteland and returned home by the morning's early rays of light. Honestly I can't believe it's been a year. It seems at once like it's gone by at lightspeed....yet somehow also feels like it's been an eternity.
I kind of shut down for a while. I stopped writing fiction. The Trash TV Podcast went on hiatus. Obviously Midnight Cinephile had stalemated. It was not a pretty picture, that's for damn sure.
I was beginning to worry that perhaps my spark had left me all together. I wasn't sure if I would ever do anything again. I barely even touched my guitar or keyboards.
